Our Mission

The West Michigan Lesbian Alliance (WMLA) is dedicated to community advocacy by cultivating an intentional, lesbian-centered community throughout West Michigan. We promote connection, safety, visibility, and leadership for lesbian women and nonbinary individuals aligned with the lesbian community. Through thoughtful programming, civic engagement, and responsible governance, we are creating a sustainable space rooted in belonging and long-term growth.

About Lesbian Community Support at West Michigan Lesbian Alliance

Established with Intention. Built to Endure.

The West Michigan Lesbian Alliance (WMLA) was established in 2026 to build a sustainable, lesbian-centered community infrastructure across West Michigan. The organization was formed in response to a recognized need for intentional gathering spaces, structured civic engagement, and leadership opportunities rooted in shared identity and lived experience, emphasizing community advocacy.

Rather than launching rapidly, the founding board prioritized thoughtful development. Governance, policy, and long-term vision were placed at the forefront to ensure that the West Michigan Lesbian Alliance would be built on stability rather than momentum. From its inception, WMLA has been guided by the belief that meaningful institutions require clarity of purpose, responsible leadership, and community trust.

The alliance begins with small, intentional steps, hosting community gatherings designed to foster connection, visibility, and shared growth. As it evolves, WMLA is committed to expanding programming and advocacy in ways that remain grounded in its core values.
